Some projects are planned. Others are inevitable. The Waltz of Chennai belongs to the second kind. It was born from years of travel between Houston and Chennai, a deep love for ballroom dance, and the Tamil film songs that have soundtracked both cities of my life.
The film is a short one, but it carries a long journey inside it. Anchored by the timeless rhythm of the Viennese Waltz, it traverses seven iconic Tamil film songs, originally composed by the legendary AR Rahman and Anirudh Ravichander, each reimagined across a different soundscape: orchestral symphony, jazz, rock, lo‑fi, Carnatic, and an explosive dappangkuthu finale.

None of it would exist without the team. Director Shara Shanth and the dedicated crew at 37Factor guided this project across eighteen months of artistry and perseverance: through arrangements and re-arrangements, rehearsals and re-takes, and the small decisions that turn an idea into a film.
